MX-5 NA Mk1 Coolant Inlet Repair Kit

The water pump inlet’s 90-degree barb is prone to corrosion and leaks, which can be worsened by running old coolant or harsh conditions. We offer this repair kit which allows you to replate the old inlet for a peace of mind for many years to come.

Instructions

1. Remove the barb by twisting it with pliers or vice grips
   • If the barb cannot be removed by twisting, cut off the excess steel barb from the water pump inlet
   • Carefully drill out the barb and the inlet with the included drill bit. Take your time to ensure the drill bit does not snag and open up the hole more than necessary
2. Tap the new hole with the supplied tap, approximately halfway up the tap’s cutting threads before the become parallel
3. Screw in the barb using PTFE tape or thread sealant suitable for use with engine coolant
