Crush washer are necessary when changing oils, as they should be replaced each time to ensure a good seal.
Metal sealing washers (also known as crush washers) compress when tightened to form a tighter, durable seal. They are commonly used to seal fluids such as oil and fuel, but also for banjo bolts between brake lines and calipers. Washers should be replaced as they are properly sealing the first use only.
They are corrosion resistant in wet environments, nonmagnetic, and electrically conductive.
