Steering rack spacers purpose is to correct the bump steer on lowered Mazda MIata NA (Mk1) by rising steering rack 15 mm from it’s original mounting surface.
It’s a must have mod for MX-5’s without power steering and with extended lower ball joints (with extended lower ball joints the forces required for steering are much greater).
Lowering your car changes the angle of the tie rod which causes changes in wheel toe in/out over the bumps (bump steer). Adding spacers to the steering rack corrects this angle and reduces bump steer.
Adding spacers bellow steering rack corrects this angle and reduces bump steer. We decided to go with .5” or 12.7mm thickness as some rules in US restricts height of spacers to this size.
This kit will work with NA steering rack and subframe only. Spacers for Mk2 / NB are available here.
Please note that it is absolutely necessary to perform alignment on the car after the spacers are installed! Without it will cause excessive toe out and high tyre wear on the front of your car.

Haven’t road tested them yet but quality seems nice and they fit in between the racks mount and subframe nicely. Reason for only 4 stars is cause the bolts have a 17mm head instead of the stock 14mm. This meant that with the socket around them I couldn’t tighten them all the way down as the gap was too small when the bolt screws in. Using 2 thick washers under each bolt solved that. Also a little tip, the driver side bolts won’t line up because of the column being too long because of the angle changing from it’s pivot point. Loosen the pinch bolt on the column and give it a tap with a hammer to slide it up towards the firewall a bit. Bitta wd40 on the splines helps the slide too.
